About Me

I’m from Ohio and I love to write. I was born in Canton, the youngest of four brothers, and moved to Wadsworth when I was ten. After a mediocre performance in academia, I barely graduated High school and enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an Electronics Technician. I completed a six year enlistment, was honorably discharged, and returned to Ohio to attend the University of Akron for a BA degree in English. I am currently in my sophomore year of college. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, and I’m beginning to accept this reality. My writing may reflect this. So I warn, if you’re sensitive to depression, some writing might be unsuitable.

Why I Write

It’s about getting up, getting well, and getting over. Getting happy, okay? Getting happy.

Stephen King

Just as the name of this blog and the clarifying quote from Stephen King suggest, I write for growth. I write to eject the lump from my throat, to soothe intense emotions, and to confide in pen and paper that which I’ve concealed from myself. On Catharsi, you will find a selection of prose and poetry born from this endeavor.
